Development Of Cell Phone Case
Aug 12, 2018

As one of the most popular digital products in modern society, smart phone has become the most indispensable item in people's daily life. However, the history of mobile phone development is only 44 years old, and the popularity of smart phones has only been in the last decade. The change in the material of the mobile phone's shell is very significant, from the beginning of the plastic to the new generation of materials represented by metallic glass today. What kind of phone is the best?

1. Plastics

Plastic material is a material that has been used since the birth of mobile phones. Plastics have strong plasticity, industrial processing is relatively low, it is conducive to mass production, and plastic costs are also low. Therefore, plastic has become the most popular material for mobile phone manufacturers., But there are also different types of plastics, such as polycarbonate, which we are familiar with.

With consumer upgrades and advances in industrial technology, plastic is no longer the mainstream of smartphone shell materials. There is no cheap material but cheap design. It is not easy to make mobile plastic fuselage fine.

2. Metals

Metal is currently the most commonly used material for mobile phone shells. From the flagship aircraft with more than 56,000 to the civilian aircraft with a thousand yuan price, metal materials are used. At present, aluminum alloys are the most used, although aluminum alloys are also used. However, the appearance processing technology of the flagship machine and the thousand yuan machine is very different.

For example, the peak of the current aluminum alloy process is the bright black aluminum alloy of the Apple iPhone 7 series. The mirror aluminum alloy is very similar to the glass material.

Aluminum alloys are easy to process and shape in industry, and their strength is also higher, but they are higher in cost than plastic materials. At present, the metal frame of the mobile phone has begun to change from aluminum alloy to stainless steel. Stainless steel has higher hardness and better toughness.

Three, glass.

Glass material is most commonly used on doors and Windows. In 2007, Apple used glass material on the screen of the first iPhone. As a result, the phone was tied to glass, and gradually the rear shell of the phone began to use glass material.

The iPhone 4 is still famous for its two-sided glass, and this year marks the 10th anniversary of the launch of the iPhone. According to supply chain news, the new generation of iPhones to be released this year will all be made of glass. Apple has abandoned the metal fuselage that has been used for five or six years.

Compared to metal materials, glass does not block cell phone signals, so the rear shell can be integrated, no extra sky lines are required for the metal body, and the glass material also supports wireless charging, which is not possible for the metal body.

4. Ceramic / Wooden / Leather

In addition to the above relatively mainstream mobile phone shell materials, there are relatively small numbers of materials such as ceramics, woods/leather, and these materials are still relatively small due to high costs or high mass production difficulties. The most promising of these is probably ceramic.

The Xiaomi MIX, which was released last year, uses an all-ceramic body. Ceramic ceramics have higher hardness and more scrap-proof than glass, but they are as fragile as glass and are not fragile on the ground. The cost is much higher than that of Gaochu.
